Braiding and Bonding Time

Somewhat unintentionally, I spent the greater part of the last few days braiding, about ten hours total, not counting our breaks for eating, playing, and napping. I hadn't really intending on making such small braids and so many, it just kind of happened as I started. Here's the result:

As you can see, I did her hair in stages, a quarter at a time, so here she is during one of our breaks today harassing petting Columbus.

I have such a gorgeous, funny girl.

Because it made me laugh the first time when she did it accidentally, she asked me to take a picture of her toppling over in her car. She loves it when I laugh at something she does.

Alexandra has only mama as a playmate for a few days as Josiah is with Nana (aka Gabe's mom). I miss Josiah terribly, but I do so love time alone with just one of my kiddos. Her personality shines through and I get to enjoy her, for her, all the more. In her car, Alexandra "went" to the post office and posted a pretend letter for me and on her way home, stopped off at the library to pick up a few books. I love how this little girl's mind works.

Maybe it's because they are finally still or maybe it's because they look so angelic, but whatever the reason, I so enjoy taking pictures of my little ones sleeping. I think my little girl is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen and this is just one of those moments when I get to capture that for all to see.

Alexandra used to be a daddy's girl through and through, but somewhere along the line, she decided that Mama ranks pretty highly too. Yesterday she said to Gabe, "Daddy, you can’t marry mama; she’s my best friend." Obviously we have to go over the whole daddy is married to mama thing again, but I can't help but smile when I hear that my baby girl thinks of me as her best friend. *sighs* I know it won't last forever, but I'll take it when I can. Here's to you my beautiful girl. I love you.
