I was sitting down to write a post about today being the first day of the National Adoption Awareness Month when I got this email from Laurel, our AWAA case worker:
Dear Families, We have court appointments for those of you whom received referrals on October 3, 2007! The court date is set for November 7, 2007. After we hear of the finalizations for each of you, we can begin to schedule your travel. We have not heard exact dates from our in-country travel representative as of yet, but we are hoping to travel your group in early December. That's us! We received our referral with five other families on October 3rd, so our court date has been set for six days from today! This means that if all goes as planned on November 7th, our children are officially ours! And then we can go and get them!
Adoption definitely is an emotional roller coaster. Yesterday, I was a little sad that we didn't have a court date and today, Gabe called me "happy girl" after I left him a voice mail singing the "we have a court date" song. With each little step toward our little ones, the reality that we are soon to be mommy and daddy becomes clearer. I just can't wait to hold our precious babes in my arms.

So happy for you!!! Wow and you only got a week notice. We will keep you in our prayers. I can not wait to see the little faces. I lost my voice yesterday and I still can not talk today. Hope you will have a nice week.

Oh Peneolope I am so excited for you and Gabe! I can barely keep the tears from coming...tears of joy that is. You're right, what an amazing Christmas gift that can only be from God!
Praise the Lord! Your babies are coming home!

This is amazing, you don't even have a long wait before court comes! Praying for all of you--that court goes flawlessly and travel can be scheduled quickly! So fantastic--you get to go before Christmas--very excited for everyone!!

ps. Sadly, Seth won't meet Gabe's brotherly expectations--he's got a head full of hair and can't get a lick of it to grow on his face (he says it grows in blonde, sure...) He'd probably gladly shave his head for a chance to leave the Big City!
Jake and I are looking forward to meeting the Carpenters very soon! Let's talk soon about gifts for the caregivers and children there. Maybe the 4 families can coordinate gifts?!
I am still so excited for you guys! Ican't believe it is only a couple days away....and then you can ACTUALLY focus on travelling to get them!!!!!!!!!
Andrea
We are so excited for that day to come when those babies are yours according to the court! I am so glad Jesus chose them for you and Gabe! I am keeping you in my prayers as you try to accomplish your "list" and still have a rested heart and body!
your friends on the other side of the country! :-)
